Discover Chinese

Discover Chinese is an iOS App. It teaches Chinese language based on etymology: this etymology indicates the language’s uniqueness as an imagery-based language, and it reflects both history and culture behind the language. I applied the Gestalt visual principle Similarity to the interactive activities. Based on Similarity, players will be able to connect an image with an original Chinese (etymologic) version, then with the final Simplified Chinese--all three sharing a similar structure or element. As a consequence, once players understand the original meaning behind each Chinese character’s form, they can relate that character with an image instead of merely random strokes and graphics.
